How easy is it to remove a Nokia car kit?

I need to remove one on Monday evening from a 406 estate. It uses the
the velcro mic and the external speaker - so no connection to the cars
stereo - and also a tax-disc aerial.

Is it just a case of disconnect the aerial, mic and speaker and pull
the cables through, then disconnect the power feed?
All help will be gratefully appreciated.

I've installed a couple of genuine Nokia kits (a CARK-91, and I forget
the model name of the other one.) The power, mic, cradle and speaker
all connect to a controller unit, which will probably be hidden away
somewhere. The antenna feed goes straight to a separate flying lead
from the cradle.

As long as you can locate the controller, you stand a chance of pulling
the wires through, though they're likely to have been tie-wrapped to
other wiring or fittings for security and neatness. You'll also need to
work out where the power feeds and ground are hooked in, unless you're
prepared to crop the wires. If you do crop the wires, you'll need to
make sure you connect via appropriate value fuses when re-installing. I
should be able to look up the details for you if you need them. The
power wires connect to the controller by a white multi-pole block
connector, while the mic/speaker use jack plugs and the cradle uses
(IIRC) something akin to a huge ethernet/phone type connector. By all
means consider cropping the power wires if needed, but don't go lopping
away at any of the others.

Of course this assumes that you're planning on re-installing the kit in
another car. If you just want to restore the current car to its
original pre-installed appearance, then it should be a lot easier.

David,

Many thanks.

The car is going back on Tuesdy hence the need to remove on Monday.

I would be looking to install it to a pre wired Zafira and understand
that I can get a new cable that will plug into the loom on the Zafira,
and presumably into the control box?

Thanks again

I'm not sure how Vauxhall do it. If you can get a wiring harness (I
know Renault won't sell you one without the full car kit) you'll
probably find that it provides direct connections for the mic, speaker
and antenna. Unless Vauxhall do a specific Nokia cable, you'll be
expected to mate individual power, ground and stereo mute wires with the
wires on the multi-plug for the Nokia module. Don't be surprised if the
colour coding is different between the Nokia and Vauxhall wiring.

I'd also recommend deviating from the 'official' Nokia wiring while you
have the chance. The Nokia kits usually have two power inputs - one for
permanent live and the other for ignition live, but if you wire them up
as you're supposed to, your phone will switch off about 30 seconds after
you stop the engine. If you don't want it to do that, just wire them
both to permanent live.

I don't want to hijack the posting but I've a factory fit Nokia kit fitted
to my Nissan Micra for a 3330 but would like to get it to take my 6100. Any
way convert it with an adapter or will it only work with a 3??? nokia phone?

Probably not, Nokia list different kits.

If you believe the Nokia bumf, then you can buy the cradle for the 6100
and just hook it up to the controller unit in place of your existing
cradle. I've never actually seen it done though, and never found anyone
selling anything but the complete kit, but it's worth asking around.

It might be worth looking out for used 6000 series kits on eBay or at
car boot sales, as you can sometimes pick them up for buttons. As
above, you should be able to get away with just connecting the cradle to
the existing controller.

What about the connections?Aren't the connections separate from the cradle.
If not where would I buy a cradle with connections for a 6100.
