It's more likely the media you are using can't be read by that particular
player? If not, RTFM.

My CD30 plays cheap CD-R discs OK. Have you used a CD-RW disc? I burnt
mine as a data disc although I think this is the only option.

No Need for FOUR questions, I understood the first one.

Answer.

Buring MP3's is a black art were cars are concerned.

First try some difference blank CD's. Some players
dont like cheap n nasty. Some player dont like thin
CD's, Some don't like thick CD's.

Yeah, this is quite right, some types of CD don't play in some types of player.

Also there are differences in bit rate and similar as to how you encode the
mp3.

But I've no idea what the "spec" on that radio is as per original question (and
I think it's not a good question so these answers are good advice).

A few tips:

1) Encode the MP3s at a sensible bitrate - if you're using untra high
quality lossless files it'll struggle
2) The files all have to be either loose on the disc, or all in
folders. You can't mix and match the two
3) make sure you've got the ID3 tags done so that it displays the
title/artist/album etc properly

Mine will play cheapo CDRs as well as RW discs. Email me if you're
still having problems. You didn't get a manual with the unit? The spec
is in there.....

What kind of RW discs are you using? I've tried a few different types,
including types specifically for audio rather than just data, and my CD
player just refuses to read them. I realise it could be down to
incompatible hardware, but I live in hope...

It seems to be quite complicated. As has been said, a black art, when you find
a way that works, use that and be happy.

I saw a detailed description of how some players use variable power lasers to
read the discs and how some cheap discs - and RW or CDR were different to
originals in being less reflective or something - require the laser to be
turned up in order to work. Running at full power all the time can then slowly
damage the laser.

No idea how much truth there is in this stuff, my PC CD drives seemed to die
after a few years and none managed to last as long as my car's CD player so
hey, it's probably on borrowed time as it is. Best to just find out what works,
I say.

Verbatim CDRW discs picked up cheap from PC World. Don't know if it
makes a difference but I'm finalising the disc.

If yours isn't playing anything perhaps its faulty?
